2022.1.1 Release

Highlights

  • The 2022.1.1 release introduces a text filter in the Analyze page that allows users to search for one or more text values such as molecular IDs, assay IDs, dates, and so forth. See demonstration video.

  • The Discussion Board now autosaves users’ edits.

  • The collection process for cube metrics has been improved.

  • The Profile and Help pages have been redesigned and improved.

  • Performance improvements have been made to the 3D Viewer.

  • Auto Scale Up is now distributed across multiple ASGs (auto-scaling groups).

  • Orion now aggressively suspends problematic scaling groups. ASGs that fail to scale due to instance availability errors are now put into a Suspended state.

  • Orion now actively monitors for runtime/hardware errors, draining work from problematic instances.

  • Data services such as FastROCS, MaaS, and MMDS now get their licenses from Orion. Admins will need to restart the data service after a license update.

For technical background on the accompanying Orion Platform, see the release notes for Orion Platform.

General

New Features

  • The Discussion Board now autosaves users’ edits. If the Orion page is refreshed, unsaved changes will persist.

  • Auto Scale Up is now distributed across multiple ASGs (auto-scaling groups). ASGs that fail to scale due to instance availability errors are now put into a Suspended state.

Minor Bug Fixes

  • Appending filtered records to an Active Dataset (Passing Filters > Save Records) sometimes resulted in the append process never terminating. This problem has been fixed.

  • Rate limiting is now less aggressive.

  • Orion now actively monitors for runtime/hardware errors, draining work from problematic instances.

  • Floe log retrieval performance has been improved.

  • The message “– End of available Orion logs –” is now appended to the end of Floe logs if logs were retrieved without encountering any unexpected errors.

  • The message “The logs for this job expired on <date>” is now appended to the header of the Floe logs if logs were retrieved after expiration date.

  • A cpuset bug that caused cube allocations to fail has been fixed.

  • A bug that caused an index out of range panic in queue client has been fixed.

  • License expiration emails are now sent only to Orion stack administrators and not to Orion organization administrators.

Project Data

Minor Bug Fixes

  • Downloading datasets with images as CSV files will now replace the image data with <Image>.

3D Modeling

New Features

  • Performance improvements have been made to the molecular geometry algorithm.

Major Bug Fixes

  • Large biomolecular systems in stick mode, for example a molecular dynamics simulation system with more than 200k waters, no longer cause the 3D Viewer to hang.

Minor Bug Fixes

  • The 3D window maximum width is now fixed to prevent the Objects list window menu items from being truncated.

Analyze

New Features

  • The 2022.1.1 release introduces a text filter in the Analyze page that allows users to search for one or more text values such as molecular IDs, assay IDs, dates, etc. The text filter also allows users to copy and paste text values separated by line breaks (or new lines) from other applications.

Major Bug Fixes

  • An issue that resulted in an infinite save when passing records were saved to the dataset itself has been fixed.

Floe UI

New Features

  • Floe Packages:

    • Error messages when incomplete packages are uploaded have been improved.

Minor Bug Fixes

  • Jobs:

    • The collection process for cube metrics has been improved. These metrics can be accessed in either the Floe Editor or the Floe pane of the Jobs Results page by opening the “Cube Metrics” modal from the ellipsis (…) menu on any cube for which metrics are available.

Profile page

New Features

  • The Profile and Help pages have been redesigned and improved. Content is separated into relevant tabs.

  • The Expenses tab now features an easy-to-understand summary of user expenses.
