2025.4 Release Notes
Release Highlights
The direct upload feature has been improved. It is still in the beta version.
A file can be uploaded in addition to the automatic dataset that is created.
Direct uploads may now generate log files in case of errors. A dataset and a log file are created with error messages. The logs will go into the same folder where the upload was attempted.
There is now an option to enable or disable pop-up notifications. By default, the pop-up notifications are turned off. A user can control their preferences by navigating to the Profile page, selecting the Preferences tab, and toggling notifications on or off.
When molecules with 2D coordinates are loaded, the 2D coordinates for the molecule are preserved, and they will be depicted as sketched (i.e., without generating coordinates). This is especially helpful for macromolecules.
User Interface Notes
Data Page
Search by resource ID (for datasets, collections, and files) can be done from the Data page. When searching with a resource number, the search bar suggests searching by that ID number.
Selected file types can be viewed in the browser natively (without having to download first). These file types have an “Open in New Tab” icon next to the file name.
Please note that the “Open in New Tab” icon will appear for all files of these types, regardless of the date when they were uploaded. However, when you click on this icon for files uploaded before the Orion 2025.4 deployment, it will download that file immediately rather than open it in a new tab.
Molecule Search
Orion users can save search results to either a file or a dataset by clicking the drop-down arrow on the “Save as Dataset” button.
Bug Fixes
An issue has been fixed where modification of default parameters was not always properly reflected in the Job Parameters section in the UI.
Orion Back End Notes
Note
Orion back end and other Orion changes of interest to all users are listed in this section, in this manual. Orion Platform changes of interest to Python programmers are summarized in the Orion Programming Guide release notes.
Packages are now built and inspected using the Miniforge installer.
Information for Programmers
Note
The Programming Guide covers only Orion Platform.
Managed Service customers can use the Orion Platform interfaces to develop their own cubes and floes for execution in Orion. They can use the Orion Command-Line Interface (OCLI) to execute operations using the Orion Client facilities. They can also develop and manage Molecule Search databases. For more information, see the Programming Guide.
