The UniProt Consortium

MMDS uses the UniProt databases of protein sequences Swiss-Prot and TrEMBL for identifying protein targets and determining alternate targets based on sequence similarity. These databases can also sub-set protein sequences into protein features. When applicable, these features are used to define a protein target in more detail.

IUPHAR/BPS Guide to PHARMACOLOGY

MMDS uses the family structuring and nomenclature for proteins that The International Union of Basic and Clinical Pharmacology (IUPHAR) / British Pharmacological Society (BPS) have curated for ligand-activity-target relationships.
